Tabox Terms of Service

Effective date: August 3, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tabox browser extension, the Tabox API, and the tabox.co website (together, the "Service"), operated by Tabox ("we", "us"). By installing or using Tabox, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Tabox is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers that lets you save your open tabs and Tab Groups into named collections, organize them into folders, sync them across devices via your own Google Drive, share them with other users, and organize them with optional AI tools. Core features are free. Optional paid features are available through a Tabox Pro subscription ("Pro").

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

The free extension works without any account. Signing in with your Google account is required for optional features: cross-device sync, shared folders, Tabox AI, and Pro. When you sign in, you authorize us to receive your basic Google profile information (name, email address, profile photo) as described in our Privacy Policy (https://www.tabox.co/privacy). You are responsible for the security of your Google account. A valid email address is required for Pro billing communications.

3. Subscriptions and Billing

Pro subscriptions are sold through Paddle, our merchant of record, which handles payment processing, invoicing, and applicable taxes under its own terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis until cancelled.
You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
We may change subscription prices; changes apply from your next renewal, with advance notice.
If your subscription ends, you keep all free features and all of your saved data.

4. Refunds

Refund requests are handled case by case in accordance with Paddle's terms and applicable consumer protection law. Where statutory cooling-off or refund rights apply in your country, they are honored. See our refund policy on the terms page for details.

5. License and Acceptable Use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Tabox for its intended purpose. You must not:

resell, rent, or redistribute the Service;
circumvent security, rate limits, or subscription checks, or access the Tabox API other than through the extension;
use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others;
store, share, or distribute unlawful content through the Service, including via shared folders, comments, or share links;
use the Service to spam, harass, or deceive others, or to distribute malware or phishing links;
abuse Tabox AI, including attempts to extract the underlying models or use AI features for unlawful purposes.

6. Your Data

Local and synced data. Your collections are stored locally in your browser. If you enable sync, they are stored in a hidden application data folder in your own Google Drive under your Google account. You are responsible for maintaining backups (Tabox provides export and backup tools); we cannot recover data that exists only on your device or in your Drive.

Shared-folder data. Content you place in a shared folder — collections, comments, and your member profile (name, email, photo) — is stored on our servers so it can be delivered to the folder's members, as described in the Privacy Policy. Deleting a shared folder you own permanently deletes its server-side content for all members; leaving a folder removes your access. We are not responsible for how other members use, copy, or further share content you have shared with them.

7. Shared Folders, Comments, and Your Content

You keep all rights to the content you save and share through Tabox ("Your Content"). To operate shared folders, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content solely as needed to provide the Service — that is, to deliver it to the members of the folders you share it in. This license ends when Your Content is deleted from the Service.

You are responsible for Your Content and for whom you share it with:

Only invite people, and only send share links to people, you intend to have access. Anyone with a valid share link may join that folder with the role you configured.
You must have the right to share what you share. Do not share content that is unlawful, infringing, or violates Section 5.
Comments and activity are visible to all members of a folder.

We do not monitor shared content, but we may remove content or suspend access to sharing features if we become aware of material that violates these Terms or the law, or in response to valid legal requests. To report abuse, contact info@tabox.co.

8. AI Features

Tabox AI features (such as smart grouping, duplicate cleanup, renaming, and folder arrangement) are optional and run only when you trigger them. AI requests are processed on our servers and by third-party AI model providers via OpenRouter, as described in the Privacy Policy. AI features require signing in with Google and are subject to per-user rate limits; usage limits may differ between free and Pro plans.

AI output is generated by machine-learning models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose. Review AI suggestions before relying on them — every AI action in Tabox shows a preview and supports undo. AI features are provided as-is, and we may modify, limit, or discontinue them, or change the underlying providers or models, at any time.

9. Third-Party Services

The Service depends on third-party services governed by their own terms and policies, including the Chrome Web Store and Edge Add-ons (distribution), Google (sign-in and Drive sync), Cloudflare (API hosting and data storage), OpenRouter (AI processing), and Paddle (payments). We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them is at your own risk under their terms.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service, including the Tabox name, logo, and software (excluding Your Content and third-party components), is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. Portions of Tabox published on GitHub are available under the licenses stated there.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data loss will not occur.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service is capped at the greater of the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or terminate your access to online features (sync relay, shared folders, AI, Pro) for material breach of these Terms, including violations of Sections 5 or 7. Upon termination, sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 6–7 licenses already granted, 10, 11, 12, and 14) survive. Termination does not affect your locally stored data or data in your own Google Drive.

14. Changes to the Service or These Terms

We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time. We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted with a new effective date, and active Pro subscribers will be notified by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — TO BE FILLED, e.g., the State of Israel], without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there. If you are a consumer, you retain any mandatory protections of the law of your country of residence.
